Fort Desoto - North Beach Swimming Area

North Beach has a swimming area that is a little south of where the park road ends. Look in the parking lots for North Beach and around the center you will see some larger buildings, these are the main restrooms (with cold showers) and a small concession area. If you park in this area and walk west you will access this area of North Beach.

This area can be productive with various lenses in both the morning and afternoon. Note that in the very early morning the sun must first clear the trees so you may want to do some sunrise shots at the East Beach Turn-a-round.

The species of birds found in this area will vary from day to day and the time of year but most every wader, shorebirds, and raptor that frequents the park can be found in this area at some point.
